DM Pulwama appeals for complete shutdown, ordered strict restrictions in the district

Inspects proposed administrative quarantine facilities in the district


PULWAMA, MARCH 26: District Magistrate Pulwama Dr Raghav Langer today ordered imposition of strict restrictions across the district to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the district.

The order issued under Section 144 of CrPC and Section 34 of Disaster Management Act 2005 states that there shall be complete restrictions on public movement including assembly of more than three persons, private transport and operation of businesses activities across the district up to April 15, to contain the spread of infectious disease.

The order further reads that only officials of essential services departments as designated on Covid-19 will be allowed to move on the production of movement passes issued by the District Magistrate. While  doctors, paramedical staff, ambulance operators and officials assigned by the District Disaster Management authority on COVID-19 emergency response duty will be allowed to move on showing their valid identity cards.

The other concerned agencies have been directed to ensure strict implementation of the order in letter and spirit and violators have been warned of strict action under law.

Dr Raghav appealed people to cooperate with the administration and ensure strict adherence to the order. He said violation of the order would constitute criminal offence and attract strict action under Section 188 of IPC.

He reiterated that district administration has put in place a mechanism to ensure uninterrupted supplies and deliveries of essential services to the general public of the district.

Meanwhile DDC visited Tral and Awantipora areas to inspect the Quarantine facility centres and took stock of the arrangements put in place there. He also visited various proposed places and buildings which may be utilized as quarantine facility centres, if required.

He directed concerned departments to work on war foot basis to tackle the situation. He also stressed for all requisite basic facilities including matting, bedding and sanitation by concerned departments at qurantine and isolation centres in the district.

He asked the concerned Municipal Committees to intensify efforts to breakdown the chain of Corona Virus infection and carry out sanitation cum fumigation drive in offices, public places and heath institutions in the district.
