Provide facilities to students and citizens of Kashmir who are stuck outside JK and country: Mir Junaid

Srinagar, March 25: Jammu Kashmir Workers Party President, Mir Junaid on Tuesday appealed to the
Government of India to release all political leaders amid growing threat of covid-19. He also
appealed to shift all political leaders detained in prisons outside J&K, in the wake of abrogation
of Article 370 on August 5, to the erstwhile state of J&K before their release.
“Irrespective of ideology and political differences apart, we appeal GoI on humanitarian basis to
shift and release all the prisoners lodged inside the erstwhile state or outside post August, 5,”
said Mir Junaid.
Pertinent to mention here that whole world has been gripped by the corona virus and India has
also been engulfed in the same. Despite preventive measures taken by the administration,
Workers Party President, Mir Junaid stressed for release of leaders because the virus threat is
prevailing day in and day out.
“I repeat our political differences are there, but this time a unity call is must to over power the
covid-19. I am hopeful that centre will release the political prisoners due to the looming threat
of covid-19.” added Mir Junaid.
He further added, “I believe in exchange of views which is essential in a democratic country like
India and this time we need to be unite to fight the virus,” said JKWP president, Mir Junaid.
It must be noted that government issued orders to revoke detention of former chief minister of
Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah which is a welcome step. The leader was put under house
arrest, a day before the Centre moved a motion in the parliament to scrap Jammu and Kashmir’s
special status under Article 370 of Indian Constitution.
We further appeal GoI to release other leaders of all parties in this depressing times, added Mir.While commenting on students and citizens who are stuck outside JK and country, he said, “I feel
for them and I request GoI to ensure their maximum basic facilities through Indian embassies. All
preventive measures are needed. Besides, those who have been kept in quarantine in other
states should be provided basic things so that they won’t feel dejected or ill,” added Mir.
Mir appealed people of JK to remain steadfast and unite like whole country to break the chain of
deadly virus. Follow government instructions and help those who are needy. He further added
that during these testing times, we should respect and help those who are on front line fighting
this deadly virus.
“Our doctors are our heroes, we should not hide any travel history or not hesitate to inform
authorities about any person be it your relative about his travel details. This will not only safe
guard your own but will also create a sense of responsibility towards society,” added Mir.
Mir also requested GoI to consider the postponement and extension of various tendering
processes, exams, registration dates and others so that no body suffers during these depressing
times.
