TRAL, MARCH 20: Large number of trees were damaged on Friday after a massive fire broke out in a forest area in Shikargah area of South Kashmir’s Tral Sub district.
A group of locals in Saimoh, Shikargah, Koil & Rathsuna areas have said that the fire broke out in upper reaches of health resort Shikargah in Tral, turning number of trees into ashes within a short span of time.
They said that fire broke out today afternoon at about 03:30 pm, and spread out towards other side of the forest.
Forest fire in the said area, as per the locals, was yet to be extinguished, when this report was filed in.
A forest official has however told that they are trying their best to control the fire and said that they have already sent many teams to the area.
Pertinently, a group of locals in Hari village of Tral have said that fire engulfed the Hariparigam social forestry zone as well.
However, sources said that fire there was brought under control after the intervention of officials & locals.
