Traffic restored after fresh landslides

Srinagar, Mar 16: The Srinagar-Jammu highway was once again temporarily closed for traffic on Monday due to a fresh landslide in Ramban district leaving more than 2,000 vehicles stranded.

Official sources told KNT that there have been fresh landslides along the highway near Cafeteria Mode in Ramban district that resulted in the highway getting blocked.

Due to closure of the highway, over 2,000 vehicles were stranded at different places enroute the highway, they said.

Men and machinery were pressed to clear the highway and after remaining closed for some hours, the highway was thrown open for the commuters, they said.

Traffic police appealed to people to strictly follow the advisory being issued by the traffic department on a daily basis. They appealed to contact Traffic Control Units (TCUs) at Srinagar, Jammu and Ramban before starting their journey on the highway.
