Samples taken, report awaited, 19 under surveillance in district
Kupwara, Mar 20 (KNO): Authorities in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district have kept almost 19 persons in quarantine after they came in touch with a lady who showed some symptoms related to novel coronavirus having her travel history from Saudi Arabia. She was referred to Chest disease hospital Srinagar where she was quarantined.
According to Wire Service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a lady, who arrived in Kashmir on 18-03-2020 was referred to chest disease hospital Srinagar to carry COVID-19 test after showing relevant symptoms. Chief medical officer (CMO) Kupwara Dr Abdul Gani Dar told—KNO that a lady (Name withheld) from Braripora, Handwara who has her travel history from Saudia Arabia has arrived in district on 18-03-2020.
After showing some symptoms related to COVID-19 she was immediately referred to chest disease hospital Srinagar prescribing her to carry the necessary tests, he said. He said that the medical team has conducted the tests and hopefully it (Tests) will be received by tomorrow morning after it will come to fore whether she tests positive or negative, adding that the lady had no serious complexions.
As precautionary measure we have collected the details of almost all the people she made close contacts with belong to different parts of the district were brought in to health centers by block level teams and have been kept in isolation, Dr Gani said.
If the lady tests negative in the morning then all those kept in observation will be discharged, in case she tested positive all those under surveillance will have to undergo necessary tests and precautionary measures will be taken, he said. Dr Gani furthermore said that all those under quarantine have been kept in type of home isolation not that of hospital since none of them have shown any sort of symptom related to coronavirus. “We are waiting for tests further will be followed
