Srinagar, Apr 18: The lockdown remained in force for the 25th straight day in Jammu and Kashmir in wake of the deadly Coronavirus outbreak, which so far claimed five lives in the Union Territory and infected over 340 people.

Witnesses told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) police and paramilitary troopers were deployed on the roads to enforce the lockdown across the Union Territory to ensure the virus is prevented from spreading.

All the educational institutions including Schools, Colleges, Universities and coaching centres continued to remain closed while as the markets also wore deserted look throughout the day.

The traffic—both private as well as pubic continued to remain shut while as only essential sectors were seen open throughout the day.

Moreover, Jammu and Kashmir police continued to book the people who were found violating the government’s prohibitory orders issued under section 144 CrPC.

In South Kashmir’s Kulgam district, Police has lodged three separate First Information Reports (FIR) against 20 violators in the district after they were found defying the government orders.

In Police Station Manzgam, 18 violators were arrested for defying the prohibitory orders under section 144 CrPC and two cases under FIR numbers 17 and 18/2020 under section 188 and 269 IPC have been registered.

In Police Station Kulgam, two persons were arrested for defying the prohibitory orders and a case vide FIR number 68/2020 under section 188 and 269 IPC has been registered
