DAK condemns action of DC Bandipora
Bandipora, April 09: Medical, paramedical and ministerial staff posted at Community Health Center (CHC) Hajin went on mass strike, after Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza allegedly misbehaved and hurled abuses upon a Medical officer of the Hospital.
Immediately after the incident happened the medical, paramedical, administrative and e sanitary staff posted at the center went on strike and staged a protest outside Block Medical Office Hajin.
Doctors posted at CHC Hajin told Current News Service -CNS that the DC allegedly misbehaved with the Medical Officer Dr, Nisar Ahmed Najar over the issue of discharging some quarantined persons after successfully completing their quarantine period of prescribed 14 days.
One of the striking doctors at the CHC said, “At a time when government is maintaining that medics and paramedics are risking their lives in the line of duty, the Deputy Commissioner Sahbaz Mirza has abused a medical officer over phone, using unparliamentarily language.”
“We are working day and night risking our lives and instead of appreciation, what we get is abuses and slurs”, he said.
Medical officers posted in the CHC Hajin earlier discharged seven persons who had completed their quarantine period in the hospital and had tested negative.They were allowed to go home, as according to guidelines. This irked and infuriated the DC, who allegedly showered abuses upon the Medical Officer.
Doctors said that at least 30 cases have surfaced so far in the area and they have been working round the clock, without any break and in return are being gifted with abuses.
BMO Hajin Dr Ajaz said that he himself is part of the strike and strike will not end until and unless matter is not sorted out.
Another Medico Dr Muzafar Khan told that action against the DC needs to be taken immediately to end the strike.
Meanwhile, SDM Sumbal and Nodal officer for COVID-19 visited the hospital and tried to persuade the agitating doctor’s to end the strike but the doctors refused to end the strike, demanding action against the DC.
Agitating doctors were raising slogans against the alleged high-handedness and arrogance shown to their colleague and demanding immediate action.
“Till an action is not taken, we will not resume our work”, they said.
Meanwhile President Doctors Association Kashmir Dr. Suhail Naik condemned the alleged misbehavior of DC Bandipora with the Medical Officer Hajin, saying that power arrogance will destroy the nation.
“DC Bandipora should learn administrative skills from DC Srinagar Dr. Shahid Iqbal Chowdhry.” Dr. Suhail Naik added.
However, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Shabaz refuted the allegations levelled by doctors.
“There was some issue over release of some people from a quarantine centre. The issue has been resolved. It happens sometimes due to anger. Now i have talked to the doctor, he said.(CNS)
