Police use tear smoke shells
Budgam, Apr 27: Police used tear smoke shells to disperse miscreants who attacked a team from Power Development Department in a Budgam village here in Central Kashmir on Monday.
Official sources told KNT that power supply conflict has been going on at village Dolipora between Lassipora and Churmajroo villagers of Beerwah.
Sources said that village Charmajroo is without electricity sine November 2019. Few villages including Lassipora object to the move of PDD and stop it from providing electricity supply to Charmajroo from Receiving Station Watheril.
The public of Lassipora uprooted few electric poles and took away the electric HT wire at Dolipora towards Charmajroo.
Official sources said that on Monday, PDD team consists of AEE Budgam Javid Ahmed, AEE Beerwah Manzoor Ahmed and other employees was scheduled to visit to review the power supply issue to village Charmajroo.
When the said team arrived at Dolipora in a Tata Sumo (JK01-7935), people of Lassipora came out and partially damaged the said Sumo and stopped the PDD team from reviewing and supplying power supply to Churmajroo.
The police came from Watherial and used few tear shells to disperse the miscreants. A police official while confirming the incident said situation is under control.
