Bandipora, 08 April: Police on Wednesday evening arrested more than one dozen persons in connection with an attempt to offer collective late night prayers in view Shab-i-Barat in a local mosque at Nesbal area of Sumbal Sub-district of North Kashmir’s Bandipora District.
Official Sources told Current News Service -CNS that more than one dozen were picked up by the police in Pethpora Nesbal after people tried to gather in a local mosque for offering late night prayers in view of Shab-i-Barat.
SDM Sumbal Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari in a facebook post said that some more than 50 people mostly elders who were assembled in a local mosque in Nesbal village to offer late night (Shab) Prayers.
When SDM Sumbal along with SDPO,SHO and Police personnel tried to persuade the gathering to disperse some youth resorted to stone pelting injuring his driver who was later hospitalised and his condition is said to stable.he added.
Meanwhile, SHO Sumbal confimed the arrest and said that more than one dozen people were arrested and a case under relevant sections of law in this regard has been registered and further investigations have been taken up.
