Deceased Langate girl tests negative for COVID-19

‘Necessary protocols followed to avoid unnecessary panic

Langate, May 02: An 18-year-old girl from Khuroo area of Langate in north Kashmir’s Kupwara who died after being suspected of a Covid infectant tested negative, a day after her death.

Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that the girl who died of heart attack on way to Baramulla hospital on Friday was tested negative for Covid-19.

They said that the girl after complaining of some ailments two days ago was taken to Handwara district hospital for treatment where she was attended and prescribed necessary treatment. “Later the family members drove her to Baramulla for advanced treatment but died on the way.”

Block Medical Officer, Langate, Dr. Gowhar told KNO that the deceased girl has tested negative for Covid-19.

He said the medical teams know there are scores of patients with coronavirus related symptoms, however, everyone isn’t a COVID-19 patient.

“As per the directions of administration, necessary protocols for the last rites of deceased girl were followed to avoid any unnecessary panic,” he said.

He also said that rumours surrounding her death due to Covid-19 were baseless as she has been tested negative for the virus.
