Imran demands release of HDF workers, daily wagers, and special allowance to councilors and SMC employees

Srinagar, May 01: The former Deputy Mayor Srinagar and present Corporator of Nishat, Sheikh Mohamed Imran on Friday has urged the JK UT government to release long pending wages of Hospital Development Fund workers (HDF), daily wagers and casual labourers because of the COVID19 lockdown and holy month of Ramadan.

In a statement issued to Fast kashmir, Sheikh Imran said ‘we are sitting in our homes without any fear of getting infected.

Still, these workers who work for our safety tirelessly in the hospitals as frontline warriors against the pandemic have been neglected and deprived of their salaries which is their right.

Imran further added that he salutes doctors and paramedics who are risking their lives and haven’t met their families from last one month to fight this deadly virus.

He said that in this tough time and prevailing lockdown caused by pandemic, the J&K administration  should consider the case of these poor, hardworking labourers on priority and ensure that, they should get their wages on preference, so they can start living an affordable life like others.

While talking about SMC, he appreciated the work of councilors, Safai Karamcharis, ward officers and other employees who be considered as the real coronavirus fighters.

“These people toiled blood and sweat throughout the day to fight against the deadly virus and moved around extensively in the city to fight, covid19 without thinking about themselves or their families,” Imran said.

He urged Lt. Governor led UT administration  to provide them special allowance to the councilors, team SMC and release their regular honorarium in advance for two months in view of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.
