Hot weather conditions may lead starvation, loss of live-stocks: Asgar
Jammu, May 27: Seeking his personal intervention, ex-MLC and senior leader, J&K Apni Party, Syed Asgar Ali today appealed Lt Governor Girish Chander Murmu to allow smooth migration of nomads with their live stocks, and cattles without any further delay towards the postures in upper reaches.
In a statement, J&K senior leader, Syed Asgar Ali said that “The process of issuing No Objection Certificates (NoC) should expedite so that the nomads get permission as early as possible and shift to the postures in upper reaches.”
The seasonal migration of nomads including Gujjars and Bakkerwals to the winter areas with the onset of summers is important because hot weather conditions have posed threat to the lives of their live-stocks and cattles.
“Hot summers will lead to the loss of live stocks, and cattles,” he apprehended, adding that the nomads are dependent upon their cattles and if they die, the nomads will face starvation like situation.
To avoid such circumstances, he said, the Government should ensure issuing of NoCs is expedited enabling the nomads to migrate, before it is too late.
Citing certain examples, J&K Apni Party leader, Syed Asgar Ali expressed concern and said that “Unfortunately, hurdles being created in their movement despite granting them permissions which need to be removed and their concerns are addressed.”
He appealed that the Government should ensure that “The nomads are not harassed and their free movement is allowed towards their postures in upper reaches.”
