According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), a group of two families from Delhi and Kolkata are currently residing with Muslim families as there is no chance to step out Jammu and Kashmir in wake of lockdown restrictions.
A Jain tourist hailing from Mumbai is currently residing with a Muslim family in north Kashmir’s Tangmarg area.
“I came here to visit famous tourist destinations especially Gulmarg but unfortunately I am stuck here after countrywide lockdown was enforced which put obstacles to my return”, said Gotham Parikh of Mumbai.
Mohammad Irshad of Utkio Kunzer Tangmarg who kept Gotham Parikh’s family in his home from last 40 days told KNS that the family is my guest and my family members are treating them as a family. He said the Kashmiris are very much hospitable for everyone.
“We can’t believe in hate and animosity and can’t divide humanity on religious lines”, Irshad said and added “It is my duty to serve the stranded family in tough times and I will do it at any cost”.
Family of Mohammad Irshad also said that it is our religious duty to host guests and especially who are in need of help because Islam teaches us to be kind and help needy. They said if we stay away from providing helping hand to needy in crisis, we are answerable to Allah on the day of resurrection.
Similarly another group of two families are residing in Kawoosa Narbal from many days. According to this stranded family, it said they too had come to Kashmir for enjoying vacations but soon after lockdown, they couldn’t return to their homes as restrictions were imposed in haste. They said after lockdown was imposed in Valley, they contacted a person from Kawoosa Narbal who patiently heard us and provided shelter in his house.
The stranded family told KNS that at a time when everyone is trying to maintain distance in wake of Corona virus, Kawoosa family threw doors of their house open for us for which we are highly thankful to them.
However both stranded families appealed Lieutenant Governor led administration to ensure their return to their homes as their near ones are waiting there. They expressed gratitude to the warm welcome by Kashmiri families and said “Mehman Nawazi” by Kashmiris is praiseworthy. They said the warm gesture by Kashmiris is a big slap on the allegations leveled by some media organizations who are working for strengthening their TRP’s and hoodwinking gullible masses.
