Pulwama, May 2: The Pulwama encounter has resulted into the killing of two militants, police said on Saturday.
“Two militants have been killed in the encounter so for while search operation is underway,” a police spokesperson told KNT.
Earlier, a gun fight broke out between militants and government forces in Dangarpora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. The atmosphere in Dangarpora, which lies in the heart of the town, reverberated with bullets creating panic in the town.
The area was cordoned off by the soldiers from 55 RR, 183 Battalion and Jammu Kashmir Policemen from Special Operation Group.
Militants were reportedly present in the house of a local whom police identified as Bashir Ahmed Wani son of Sanaullah Wani. During the exchange of fire, militants changed their location and entered into the house of one identified as Abdul Aziz Dar son of Abdul Ahad Dar.
Witnesses said that clashes erupted in the town during the gunfight. Police used tear smoke shells to those youth who pelted stones on forces deployed near the encounter site. Reports suggest some injuries during the clashes.
Reports added that the house in which militants were present has been completely razed to ground.
The search operation was underway till the filing of this report.
