Ganderbal, June 13: Forest Department Saturday claimed that it retrieved 40 kanals of forest land from land grabbers as part of an anti-encroachment drive in Sindh Range of Compartment number 1 and 3 In Najwan area of Kangan in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
The team constituted by the DFO Ganderbal Owais Farooq Mir along with ACF Sindh, Danish Khan, RO Rameez Raja, RO Rasheed Laherwal and other field Staff carried out the drive and demolished illegal fencing to remove encroachments from forest land in the area.
Officials said that the Department retrieved over 40 kanals of forest land during the anti-encroachment drive in the said area.
Talking to news agency KNT, Divisional Forest Officer, Ganderbal Owais Farooq Mir said that it succeeded in retrieving 40 kanal of forests land from the possession of encroachers.
He said the team also demolished illegal fencing put up by the encroachers from forest land in the area.
He further added that field staff was also directed to ensure strict vigil in the area to prevent any further encroachment.
