‘Family had a close shave’
Handwara, June 6: A family had a close shave after a couple of poplar trees fell on the house and a government school building in North Kashmir’s Handwara town.
The incident occurred at Panditpora Kralgund area of Handwara town.
Witnesses told news agency KNT that due to wind storm, at least 2 hollow poplar trees fell on the house of Abdul Ahad Lone and Government Middle School building.
The family members were frightened and came out quickly form the house. “Luckily we were present in the first floor of the house. The poplar trees came down crashing on the roof of the house damaging it. Poplar tree also fell on the Government Middle School Building and that too got damaged,” Abdul Ahad said.
He said in 2018 the then Tehsildar Qaziabad had issued an order vide number DPO/K/4684-85 dated 24/2/2018 regarding the auctioning of these hollow trees but that auction never took place.
