Bugam, July 26: Police arrested at least five youth in Nasrullahpora village of central Kashmir’s Budgam district during nocturnal raids while locals alleged that police resorted to vandalism creating fear psychosis among local population.
Locals told news agency KNT that on Saturday late night, police raided several houses and dragged five persons from their rooms, bundled them into vehicles and whisked them to unknown destination. They said police also vandalized property inside the houses and thrashed many people.
The charges were refuted by police saying that five persons involving in stone-pelting incidents were arrested and no civilian was touched or property vandalized.
Nasrullahpora village which is around four kilometers from the district headquarters Budgam was in news in May this year when a police officer and some of his security guards were injured when some locals allegedly assaulted them while they were in the area to enforce lockdown.
