Srinagar, July 1: Car and bike lifters have become very active in this Covid pandemic. From past month, dozens of vehicle theft incidents have been reported in Kashmir Valley.
An Alto car (JK09B/6408) was stolen by thieves in Umar Colony Bemina area of Srinagar city. The vehicle belonged to Abid Akhtar who is a resident of Karnah Kupwara. A case in this regard has been registered at concerned police station.
Vehicle lifters have managed to steal tipper, passenger rickshaw, motor-cycle and Maruti cars.
Thieves this month stole a motor-cycle (JK04/8741) from Rambagh bund area of Srinagar. The owner, Abdul Khaliq Bhat of Nowgam has filed a complaint in this regard at police station Saddar.
Thieves according to news agency KNT lifted a passenger Auto (Piaggio) outside District Hospital Kulgam. The auto (JK18A/7401) was owned by one Mukhtar Ramzan Mir of Parigam Kulgam. He had parked his auto to get his ailing uncle back to home from hospital. Police however, swung into action and recovered that stolen auto.
Similarly police recovered a stolen tipper this month from South Kashmir’s Anantnag town. The tipper (JK05A/4330) that was lifted from Fruit Mandi Parimpora was owned by Fayaz Ahmed Fafoo.
Vehicle lifters also managed to steal tow Maruti-800 cars from Chattabal and Parimpora areas. These cars (JK01G/0512) and (JK04A/3168) were owned by Farooq Ahmed from Lal Bazar and Abdul Majid Kumar of Umar Abad HMT. One was stolen at Pinchi Mandi Chattabal and the other from Omarabad Zainakote.
