Shopian, July 13: Amid Covid-19 pandemic, locals from South Kashmir’s Shopian village held a strong protest against the dilapidated roads.
The villagers of Darumdora Keegam Shopian hit to roads and raised slogans against administration and Public and Works Department.
They said the road passing through their village and connecting dozens of villages is in dilapidated condition. The protesting villagers told news agency KNT that this road was last macadamized in 2012 and since then nobody from the government bothers to improve its condition.
The protesting villagers were joined by people from adjacent villages too and they alleged that besides shabby road conditions, there is rampant encroachment while concerned Tehsildar is least bothered and doesn’t look into the serious issue.
“If our grievances are not addressed, we will be left with no option but to hit roads and block the vehicular movement,” the protesters told KNT.
