‘Secondary, Hr Secondary annual regular exams to be conducted in November’

Srinagar, Aug 18: Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (BOSE) on Tuesday said the question papers for annual regular examinations of secondary and higher secondary standard will be set from the whole prescribed syllabus and the students will have to attempt only 70 per cent marks.

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (BOSE) also said that the examinations of both secondary and higher secondary classes will be held in the month of November.

The BOSE in a notification, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said, “In view of prevailing COVID-19 Pandemic, the students of classes 10th, 11th and 12th annual regular appearing in the forthcoming examinations likely to be held in the month of November 2020 in Kashmir division, winter zone areas of Jammu division and March 2021 for summer zone areas of Jammu division, as a one time measure.”

BOSE said that the students appearing in these examinations shall have to attempt only 70 per cent marks from the question papers, which shall be treated as 100 per cent at the time of evaluation.

“The score of students attempting less than 70 per cent from the question paper shall be raised proportionately,” it reads.

In a notification, it was also stated that the question papers will be set from the entire syllabus prescribed for the session.

However, the student has to attempt only 70 per cent questions instead of attempting all the questions; thus, there is a resultant concession of 30 per cent.

“For the students appearing in subjects having no practical courses, the question paper is of 100 marks and the student has to attempt questions with a total of 70 marks,” it reads.

The BOSE notification further reads, “For all such subjects which have both theory and practical components the concession will apply to theory part only that includes Physics, Chemistry and Biology that have a practical component of 30 marks and theory question paper of 70 marks, the students shall attempt 49 marks (70 percent of 70 marks only), which will be raised to 100 percent i.e. 70 marks.”

BOSE said that for other papers having different marks scheme for theory papers, the student shall have to attempt 70 percent of marks allotted to the theory paper.
