Srinagar, Sep 13: Awami Action Committee (AAC) today called a condolence meeting over the demise of the grandmother of Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq and expressed condolence and solidarity with Mirwaiz Family.

The octogenarian gentle and pious lady of the Mirwaiz Family, she was the wife of Late Moulvi Ghulam Rasool Shah, the aunt and mother-in-law of Shaheed-e-Millat Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq, and the mother of Moulvi Manzoor Ahmad and Moulvi Shafaat Ahmad.

AAC said it’s members stands with Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq in this hour of grief. The members of AAC strongly condemned the “arbitrary, undemocratic, unethical and unlawful” house detention of the Mirwaiz, and reiterated their demand of unconditional release of all those detained in homes or lodged in prisons in and outside J&K.

During the meeting, Dua-e-Maghfirat and Fateha prayers were offered for the departed soul.

Meanwhile, Awami Action Committee has appealed to its leaders, members, activists and well-wishers  not to pay personal visits for condolence in wake of the ongoing coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic and due to the continuous house detention of Mirwaiz Dr Umar Farooq; instead offer Fateha prayers for the departed soul from their homes.
