Tral, Sep 9: MGNREGA Contractors Wednesday staged a protest accusing an officer ‘cheat and deceit’.
The contractors assembled in the premises of Block Development Officer’s office in Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district and staged a protest against Assistant Executive Engineer Hilal Ahmed of Rohmu Pulwama.
The protesters told news agency KNT that the said officer never pays full amount for the works they undertake. “He grabs our hard earned money. He demands rather grabs Rs 30,000 to 40,000 when we carry out work amounting to the tune of Rs one lakh,” they said.
The protesters demanded strict action against the said officer.
The officer in question said that a high level inquiry should be conducted to get the facts correct.
