COVID-19: Record spike in cases as 1079 test positive in J&K, tally gets closer to 40,000

Jammu division takes first ever lead in casts at 622 cases, Recovery rate over 77 percent in UT

 

Srinagar, Sep 03: Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday recorded the highest ever spike in positive cases as 1079 tested positive for the deadly virus with Jammu division alone registering 622 cases—first ever single day rise in cases since the pandemic outbreak in the Union Territory.

The number of total cases have reached 39,943 cases in the UT of which, 30,025 are from Kashmir and 9,918 from Jammu division. Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), among 1,079 new cases, 457 belong to Kashmir division while as 622 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 30,025 including 23,929 recoveries while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 9,918 including 6,830 recoveries and 78 deaths.

The officials said that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 8,441 including 5,431 from Kashmir division and 3,010 from Jammu division.

With 680 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 30,759 which is 77.007 percent of the total cases.

Pertinently, first time since covid-19 outbreak, Jammu division reported more cases than Kashmir division in a single day rise.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 139 from Srinagar, 14 from Baramulla, 33 from Pulwama, 63 from Budgam, 27 from Anantnag, 49 from Bandipora, 30 from Kupwara, 17 from Kulgam, 28 from Shopian and 57 from Ganderbal in Kashmir division while as 622 from Jammu division include 484 from Jammu, 15 from Rajouri, 21 from Kuthua, 16 from Udhampur, 26 from Samba, 06 from Ramban, 14 from Doda, 08 from Poonch, 10 from Reasi and 22 from Kishtiwar,” officials disclosed.

As per officials figures, 9,636 positive cases including 228 deaths and 8,038 recoveries are from Srinagar, 2,876 including 101 deaths and 2,290 recoveries are from Baramulla, 2,733 including 2,225 recoveries and 55 deaths are from Pulwama, 2,644 including 1,948 recoveries and 64 deaths are from Budgam, 2,416 including 52 deaths and 1,858 recoveries are from Anantnag, 2,284 including 1,532 recoveries and 26 deaths are from Bandipora, 2,166 cases including 1,532 and 50 deaths are from Kupwara, 1,961 including 1,783 recoveries and 37 deaths are from Kulgam, 1,731,including 1,606 recoveries and 28 deaths are from Shopian and 1,578 including 1,117 recoveries and 24 deaths are from Ganderbal.

In Jammu division, 4,060 including 2,173 recoveries and 52 deaths are from Jammu district, 949 including 785 recoveries and 05 deaths are from Rajouri, 972 including 726 recoveries and 05 deaths are from Kuthua, 865 including 692 recoveries and 03 deaths are from Udhampur, 764 including 570 recoveries and 03 deaths are from Samba, 667 including 645 recoveries and 01 death are from Ramban, 459 including 357 recoveries and 04 deaths are from Doda, 458 including 353 recoveries and 04 deaths are from Poonch, 433 including 335 recoveries are from Reasi and 291  including 194 recoveries and 01 death are from Kishtwar.

As per the daily information bulletin, 469,980 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 45,703 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 8,441 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 368,449 persons have completed surveillance period and 46,644 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 1,012,892 samples are available.

Out of 1,012,892 the number of samples tested negative stands at 972,949 while 39,943 have tested positive, among them 8,441 are active and 30,759 persons have recovered
