Man shot dead by BSF handed over to Pakistan

Uri, Sep 17: The Pakistani man who was shot dead by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on Tuesday while allegedly trying to cross this part of Kashmir along the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district has been returned to Pakistan Administered Kashmir (PaK) for last rites, police sources said.

The slain has been identified as Kamran Chack son of Muhammad Nazir (39) resident of Bandi Sochian Tehsil in the district Hatiyan Bala of Pakistan Administered Kashmir.

SHO Uri, Muhammad Ashraf told news agency Kashmir News Trust that the body of the slain man was handed over to Pakistan for the last rites. Besides SHO, Tehsildar and an Army Major was present on the occasion. From Pakistan side, SHO Chinari, SDM Hatiyanwala and an army officer were present.

Pertinently, on Tuesday, according to officials, an individual was observed moving suspiciously across the fence ahead of their own post at Dulanja Coy/70 Bn BSF by the sentry.

“The intruder was asked to strip for a closer search. He ran back and after repeated verbal warnings, he didn’t listen and was shot by the sentry and he died instantly.
