Srinagar, 07 Sep: Srinagar is witnessing surplus Monsoon rain by over 27% even as rain deficit in other parts of the J&K is mounting.
As against a normal of 175.7 mm of rainfall, Srinagar has received 223.7 mm of rainfall between June 1 and September 7, according to Kashmir Weather.
Srinagar is the only district in J&K to record excess rains.
Eight out of the twenty districts in the Union Territory have received deficient rainfall while eight other districts have recorded normal rainfall.
Three districts have recorded ‘large deficiency’ of over 60%.
After Srinagar, Ganderbal district has been surplus by about 16%.

The overall monsoon deficiency in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 23%. Between June 1 and September 07, the UT has recorded 374.9mm of rainfall against the normal of 489.1mm.
As per Kashmir Weather, the rain deficiency in all the districts of J&K is going to increase as the monsoon over northwest India will remain subdued at least for the next 10 days.
