Restoration of Art 370 impossible, Farooq Abdullah anti-national, says BJP National Vice President
Srinagar, Oct 15: Reacting sharply to the All-Party Meeting on Gupkar Declaration at Dr Farooq Abdullah’s residence on Thursday, the BJP National vice president Avinash Rai Khanna termed it a “mere drama”.
He said the Farooq Abdullah and other Kashmir based politicians are day-dreaming for the restoration of Article 370 and Article 35A of the Constitution which is “next to impossible”.
He said that people of Jammu and Kashmir have nothing to do “with this so-called Gukar Declaration”.
“Political parties in Kashmir are trying to sell another false dream to the people which can never be possible. The Gupkar agenda has been coined in Kashmir in an attempt to hoodwink the people and for Farooq and company to save themselves,” Avinash Rai Khanna told news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) over the phone from New Delhi.
He said: “People know that when they were in power, they committed sins with impunity. The controversial Articles did nothing except digging an ocean of misunderstandings and retarding the growth and development of the erstwhile state.”
On August 22, six regional and national parties unanimously resolved to fight for the restoration of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir as it existed before August 5, 2019, saying the measures taken were “spitefully short-sighted” and “grossly unconstitutional”.
All-party meeting on the Gupkar Declaration was held on Thursday at Dr Farooq Abdullah’s residence wherein all the signatories barring Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Ghulam Ahmad Mir participated.
Farooq Abdullah soon after the meeting said that the resolution passed on August 4 last year by the mainstream political parties in the Valley has been named as “Peoples’ Alliance for Gupkar Declaration”. Our motive is to fight for the restoration of August 04, 2019 position,” he said.
Reacting to the statement, Khanna said “The restoration of Articles 370 & 35(a) is next to impossible. Farooq Abdullah and other leader’s intentions will not be fulfilled. People have seen their politics before 370, and now they are aware how they are befooling people in the name of so called Gupkar declaration.”
He said that everybody in Jammu and Kashmir is aware how Abdullahs, and Muftis have “looted the people in the name of development”.
Lashing out at Farooq Abdullah for his China statement, BJP top leader said the comments were “saddening as well as worrying and it proves that he is the antinational”.
“He is a former chief minister and sitting MP and yet he said that Article 370 that has been abrogated in Parliament should be installed with the help of China. If he is seeking the help of China, let he leave his chair, and all the facilities of the government and talk like the common Kashmiri,” he said.
He added that Kashmir-based leaders are doing nothing except daydreaming as they are feeling restless to return to the corridors of power to enjoy all luxuries for themselves and their near and dear ones.
Khanna said that the “people of J&K have rejected the “dirty politics” of parties like the National Conference, Congress, PDP and the J&K is now progressing on the definitive lines of unprecedented development”.
