Srinagar, Oct 16: Jammu Kashmir Awami Action Committee (AAC) senior leader Muhammad Shafi Khan addressed people today at historic and central Jamia Masjid Srinagar before Friday’s prayers.
He said that the situation in J&K continues to be worrisome uncertain and intimidating as the resolution of the Kashmir issue lingers on and on . He said that since it’s formation AAC has always strived for its peaceful resolution in accordance with wishes of the people of entire J&K .
He said that the policy of repression pursued by those in power is unfortunate. As a consequence of this policy AAC and Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq, who is the leading religious and political leader of Kashmir, and scores of other political leaders and thousands of youth continue to languish in jails or are kept under house arrest.
AAC chairman Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq is under arbitrary house arrest since 5 August 2019, and is not allowed to move out and meet people and pursue his religious and political activities , Khan said.
The AAC leader, on behalf of the organisation and people, stressed that aa the holy and blessed month of the birth of the holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is approaching , Mirwaiz be released forthwith so that he resumes his religious responsibilities from the pulpit of the historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar and his political responsibility.
