Srinagar, Oct 10: Four militants were killed in two separate encounters that took place between government forces and militants in two different areas of South Kashmir on Saturday.
A senior police official told news agency KDC that two militants were killed in a brief gunfight at Dadura village of Pulwama district, while as another two militants were killed in an overnight gunfight at Chunigam area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam.
He said in Kulgam encounter, one non-local and one local militant of Jaish e Muhammad outfit were killed, while as forces recovered 1 M4 rifle with other types of arms and ammunition from the encounter site.
Earlier, on Friday late evening, a joint team of army’s 01 RR, SOG and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Chinigam Kulgam.
The official further added that as soon as the joint party of the search party of joint forces encircled the suspected spot, the militants hiding inside fired upon the party, which triggered a gun battle between the sides, which culminated at the killing of two Jaish militants.
Regarding Pulwama shootout, the official said that both the militants were killed in a search operation turned gunfight, however their identity is yet to be ascertained.
