Mendhar, Oct 07: Mendhar Student Union led by president Dilshad Qadri gathered outside Govt.Degree college Mendhar with posters and demanded schlorship for ST Students.
Student leader Dilshad Qadri said students belonging to the scheduled tribe category in Jammu and Kashmir have been left in lurch since last one year as the tribal affairs department has not released scholarships of enrolled students.which is making it difficult for them to meet their educational expenses.
Due to unknown reasons tribal affairs department has withheld the scholarship of ST students.
Since last October, the department hasn’t released scholarships of all pre-matric and post-matric scholarships, he said, adding that due to covid-19 scholarships were disbursed among other students quite early however, only ST students have been kept waiting.he Said
The students requested the authorities to look into the issue at an earliest.
“We are facing lot of difficulties owing to non-payment of our scholarship amount and we are not able to meet our educational expenses,” the students added.
Students urged upon the Lt Governor J&K Manoj Sinha to intervene in this serious issue concerning the future of thousands of poor students belonging to ST Community and release legitimate schlorships of ST Students.
