Srinagar, Nov 12: It has been over two months, but authorities are un-moved and are not coming clear on the alleged Fire and Emergency Department Recruitment Scam.

Yet again scores of drop outs emerged here in Press Enclave Srinagar and accused recruiting agency of fraud. “The recruitment process in Fire and Emergency Service was not a fair one. Fraud has been committed to adjust those who did not deserve the job. Deserved aspirants were ignored,” the protesting aspirants told KNT.

The protesting aspirants have been appealing the LG Administration to look into the matter. The fate of these aspirants has been hanging since 2014- the year they appeared in the exam.

“Three examinations were conducted since 2014.In 2014 we applied for the posts which were advertised by Fire & Emergency Department, but before the results could have been declared the Department issued order for re examination citing the 2014 floods as the reason,” a drop out aspirant Khursheed Ahmad Parray told news agency KNT.

“To get the job, highly qualified aspirants applied for these menial posts. These include Phd pass outs, post graduates and with Masters in other academic streams. The results were a shocker. Qualified aspirants didn’t figure in the recruitment list. Selection was not done on merit basis, but favoritism and nepotism ruled the roost. If this will happen with the educated people where shall we go then,” he questioned.

These drop-out aspirants after getting no chance to interact with Lieutenant Governor have approached the court of law that will hear the matter on 23 December next month.

“We are still pinning hopes on LG and believe he will intervene and the matter will be probed,” the protesting aspirants told KNT.
