Srinagar, Nov 16: A female Registered Medical Officer (RMO) on Monday alleged a COVID infected patient of allegedly manhandling her, here at Chest and Diseases Hospital Dalgate.
Dr. Nighat the victim, while narrating the incident told GNS that a female patient approached her regarding some issue with electric bulb in the washroom and asked me for the keys of doctors’ washroom. “On this, I asked her to wait till the issue is resolved and was about to take the roaster to contact the electrician concerned. However in the meantime a person, which I at first impression thought to be attendent of the patient, approached and took me by my neck and dragged me even as hurled abuses”, the medical officer said adding that “All this can be even cross-checked from the CCTV footage available with the hospital administration.”
What was more ironic, according to the medical officer, that the person turned out to be a COVID infected patient later on.
“I was lucky enough that there were some other doctors present, who intervened to free me from her clutches” the medical officer said.
“I took the issue against the person with the hospital administration who informed the police upon which the attendent accosting the patient was taken into detention by a police team”, the medical officer said.
Meanwhile the medical officer has demanded strict punishment against the offender to set a precedent for people who resort to such acts by attacking the medical staff.
