Sopore Dec 1: In the second phase of polling, Zaingeer and Sopore partly recorded 16.40 percent of voting.
Reports said despite cold weather condition long queues of voters were seen waiting for their turn to cast their vote in Zaingeer Sopore area of Baramulla in North Kashmir.
Braving the chill of December, enthusiastic voters were seen casting their votes since early morning in Sopore area of North Kashmir for development and prosperity, it added.
The voters while talking with media said, that they casted their votes for development and prosperity of their region.
“We have to move on and leave behind the days of violence and fear and seek development and peace in our region, voters told
We can’t just live in fear for our whole life,” one of the voters wishing anonymity said.
The hotbed of militancy, Brath area polls 585 votes while as Separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani’s native Duroo village records 0.9 percent voting.
“For the smooth functioning of election process and restoring peace in the region, police has been working continously to bring out people from the fear they are witnessing past several years, police official said.
Police official said that this is big achievement for us , We arrested several anti-national elements in different villages who were trying to instill fear in the minds of people,”after counselling we released them, he added.
