Srinagar, Jan 06: With the widespread snowfall the land of saints has been under a thick white blanket, with least chances of snow melting soon amid the ongoing ‘Chilai Kalan’. Recent snowfall has disrupted normal life across the valley and made the people remain confined to their homes. The winter so far has been harsh and proved fatal for creatures other than humans.
The speechless species have been left homeless and wandering in search of food and shelter. Things they are fed upon are buried under the snow, they need someone to feed them and that’s the moral duty of us, the “Ashraful Maqkhlookaat”. It’s us who have to improvise and manage the techniques to feed the creatures whether it be a street dog or a bird.
Mentioned in Sahih Muslim, “ Whoever alleviates [the situation of] one in dire straits who cannot repay his debt, Allah will alleviate his lot in both this world and in the Hereafter, so Islam makes us explore the ways of helping each other and its importance.
Initiatives have been taken and the techniques to feed the birds and other creatures are doing rounds on social media which as a society we must appreciate and participate in such acts as much as we can. Several non government organizations are working and trying to educate people about feeding the birds in this mini natural disaster.
“Mooj Kasheer” is such a non government organization which has started a mission of feeding the voiceless. Founded two years ago by Amir Rasheed, an engineering student from Magam area of Budgam district Mooj Kasheer welfare trust has proved themselves as helping hand in many aspects in the past as well. The organization goes around the motto of “Serving the humanity with dignity” and wants to play its main role in the education of the poor.
According to news agency KDC, in its message, the founder Amir Rasheed on behalf of his NGO has requested people to help and take care of the birds by making tools to feed the creatures in a best possible way.
Spread out a piece of tarpaulin, and place the fodder and other edible material for feeding the birds, open the window, leave some type of food for the street dogs, make nests out of carton boxes, will get the job done.
Amir received a good response to his message but it’s all up to us, you and me. Let’s not make it organisational lets try help them out at individual levels that’s the thing and that’s the message.
God willing, helping them in these tough times will prove beneficial for all of us. Islam advocates that the rights of animals are honoured. We know the example of the prostitute who nourished the thirst of a dog and as a result, was given paradise as a reward. We must never belittle the deeds we do in the sight of Allah they could be significant.
Just carry the message forward if you can help the “makhlooq e khuda” in whatever possible way that surely will have you a reward from the Allah SWT in the world hereafter. (KDC)
