Srinagar, Feb 18: Jamiat Ulema Foundation Jammu and Kashmir has started a campaign to enhance the remuneration of Imams and Muezzins of the mosques.
As per a statement, President Hafiz Iqbal Hashmi of Jamiat Ulema Foundation Jammu and Kashmir is running a campaign in cities and villages to increase the salaries of imams and muezzins. The campaign involved both oral and writing methods.
Efforts are being made to awaken the people as well as the mosque committees and encourage them to give a decent salary for imams and muezzins.
The issue of meager salaries for imams and muezzins of mosques is not hidden from anyone. The Jamiat Ulema Foundation raises its voice from time to time in this regard. But so far no significant progress has been made. Now the President has launched a campaign under the title, “Mission Salary Increase” .
The President himself is leading the ongoing campaign in the name of Jamaat-e-Islami. The President said that in this era of inflation, the salaries of imams and muezzins of mosques are nominal, due to which they have to suffer from economic hardship. During the lockdown, the condition of the imams of various mosques was really bad.
President said that the attitude of the nation towards the salaries of Imams is deplorable. The Imams who guide us in all our affairs are living in poverty and hardship. The people and the mosque committees must change their procedures.
