Srinagar, Feb 21: The Jammu Kashmir Press Association (JKPA) on Sunday claimed that fake letters against some newspapers were sent to the J&K government under forged signature of its president.
A JKPA spokesperson on Sunday said that the Executive Members of the Association held an emergency meeting chaired by its president G H Kaloo late on Saturday evening. “The meeting was held in view of fake letters sent to the government against some newspapers under the forged signature of its president,” he said.
He said the President has disowned the letters and flashed messages to the Principal Secretary Information Department, Director DIPR and the Joint Director DIPR, stating therein complete ignorance about the allegations levelled against some newspapers.
Mr Kaloo has requested for an impartial investigation into the incident by the State Crime Branch to identify the culprits and book them under relevant Law of the land.
He also requested the authorities not to take cognizance of the forged letters till grain is sifted from the chaff.
