Jammu, Jul 8: Police have booked at least six persons for pelting stones at Police Post Pargwal situated in the bordering belt of Akhnoor here.
Police said that they were annoyed over bail to one party by the Court in a land dispute case, another party blaming the police for allegedly supporting them, staged protest late on Wednesday evening and later pelted stones.
Sharing details here on Thursday, Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Akhnoor, DySP Varun Jandial, said, “it was a land dispute between two brothers and the matter was in the Court.”
The Court had issued bail to one of them in which, raising objections, the second brother blamed the police for not supporting him.
“Last evening he reached the police post, expressed resentment despite being pacified by the police that the case has been settled by the Court but in a fit of anger, he hit himself and blamed the policemen for action,” the SDPO said.
He further added that some villagers in his support staged a protest outside the police post and also pelted stones in which one cop sustained minor injuries.
“We have identified the stone peters and registered an FIR against them,” he said.
The police post falls under the Police Station Khour.
