Lord’s, Aug 15: India were 56/3 at Lunch against England in the second innings of day four of the second Test in the five-match series here on Sunday.
India lead by 29 runs.
Pujara (3) and Rahane (1) not out were at the crease when the Lunch was declared.
Skipper Joe Root’s hard-fought century (180) helped England take a 27-run lead against India as hosts were bowled out for 391 at stumps on the third day here on Saturday.
On Day four, Indian openers KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma started on slow note as duo put up just 18 runs for first wicket before Rahul was
bowled by Wood caught behind by wicketkeeper Buttler at (5) in 9.2 over.
After Rahul’s exit, Pujara came in and along with Sharma added 9 runs for the second wicket, but Sharma was the next to go when Wood picked his second wicket caught by Ali in 11.6 over. Sharma 21 came in 36 balls with 2 fours and a six.
Both Rahul and Sharma who showed their class with scores 129 and 83 in the first innings lacked fire in the second innings.
India lost its openers at score of just 27. After Sharma’s departure skipper Kohli along with Pujara chipped in 28 runs for third wicket now hopes pinning on Kohli who had scored 43 runs in the first innings to stay at the crease and score runs.
But Kohli stay was cut short when caught behind by keeper Buttler and bowled by Curran at 20 off 31 balls with 4 fours in 23.1 over.
For England Wood 2/16 and Curran 1/6 were the wicket-takers.
