Seeks Immediate Payment of Liabilities Since 2014
Srinagar, Aug 3: While questioning the government’s announcement to open the doors of construction and development in the valley, contractors said that the pending liabilities were not paid even at the end of the financial year as they claimed that their liabilities are withheld since the year 2014 .
The Evergreen Contractors Association along with Senior Contractors Coordination Committee (SCCC) on Tuesday demanded immediate payment of liabilities from the year 2014, while stating that they are being mistreated for seeking their dues.
While addressing the Press Conference at their Head Office near Polo View Srinagar Zeeshan Ahmad President of the Committee said, “ the building are even inaugurated, offices are working from years, children are playing in grounds but still or payments are pending”
He added that in reality contractors put into practice the promises of government officials, bureaucrats and politicians and bring relief to the people.
“But we are not only physically harassed but even mistreated for demanding our payments,” he said.
Zeeshan said in addition to the payment of previous dues, the funds for the works related since 2014 have not been paid.
“Demanding payment of work done is not against the law, but we are treated as if we are seeking something unlawful,” he added.
He demanded immediate payment of dues from the government and said in future it should be ensured that contractors are not mistreated in the offices. (CNS)
