Budgam, Oct 2: Brick Kiln owners are flouting norms in broad day and do not honour the order issued by district administration Budgam directing the brick kiln owners to sell 3,000 bricks for Rs 21,000.
The locals from Utligam Beerwah area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district alleged that brick owners are charging Rs 28,000 to Rs 30,000 and are caring a fig for the government order.
“We have been repeatedly raising this issue, but unfortunately not a single official from the district administration Budgam shows keenness to act against the violators,” Deputy Sarpanch Utligam Muhammad Sultan Mir told news agency Kashmir News Trust.
Pertinent to mention here that DC Budgam vide his office order No. DCB/Brick Kilns/2020/54, dated 21.08.2020 has fixed rate of bricks as Rs 21000 per 3000 bricks including all taxes except transportation.
Tehsildar Budgam has also issued official order under which every brick kiln operating in tehsil Budgam has to compulsorily publish Government approved rate list at brick kiln locations, refrain from overcharging and sale of substandard material.
The locals staged a protest seeking stringent action against the violators. They said brick kiln owners especially at Utligam are looting people at will. “These brick kiln owners lie to official that they following government directives while the fact is that they resort to overcharging,” said a local Abdul Rahim Mir.
When contacted, SDM Beerwah, Syed Ahmed Khatari told KNT that the aggrieved people should approach him and submit a complaint against those brick kiln owners who are violating government approved rates
